Al Liu, Vice President of Coffee for Milwaukee-based Colectivo Coffee Roasters, has worked actively in Fair Trade during his entire 17-year career in specialty coffee. He continues to travel extensively to coffee-producing regions in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa and has worked with Fair Trade cooperatives to develop supply chains, establish quality standards, and identify opportunities for sourcing and is an expert in green coffee origins, coffee sustainability and economic/social issues. Al is a former Director of the Specialty Coffee Association of America and an original Advisory Board member of United Students of Fair Trade. He also is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and started working in coffee back in 1994 at the on-campus cafe operated by Students of Georgetown, Inc.
