Belen’s responsibilities include overseeing the coffee producer communications program, and project management of coffee impact studies. Prior to joining Fair Trade USA in August 2013, Belen collaborated with bilingual business development projects at four local nonprofit organizations in San Francisco, California. As a Mayor of the district of Quitumbe in Quito Ecuador, Belen ran programs that advocated for issues relevant to minorities and women, and in areas of economic development and environmental strategies to improve residents’ lives. Belen holds a MBA in International Business from the Catholic University of Chile, a BA in Business Administration from the Catholic University of Ecuador, and a graduate certificate in Strategic Governance and Political Management from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. She is fluent in Spanish and speaks a little Portuguese and is always looking to brush up her language skills over coffee or drinks.
